“Two vendors we met through Marcus Evans have now become partners,” said Dr Niranjan Rao, Chief Medical Officer, Vice President, Saint Peter’s Healthcare System, a delegate at the Marcus Evans National Healthcare CMO Summit.

What possibilities and business opportunities did the Summit bring to your organization?

There were some very good presentations. The speakers provided lots of valuable information that we could implement within our organization. We also met with some vendors, and ended up partnering with two of them. The most recent one is a USD 30,000 agreement for a specific program one of them has.

Had you worked with that organization before?

I am actually a member of that association, but had not heard about that program. I was not aware of it until our one-on-one meeting at the Summit.

Is it a difficult process to get through your door, to become one of your vendors?

It depends on what we need at that point in time, and what they can offer. We are an open-minded organization, so we do set up meetings every now and then. But what the Summit does, what makes it valuable, is that it brings different people together so you can actually compare them with each other. Service and solution providers with different products and information. A diverse group of people with diverse spenders, which gives you a better perspective than doing a one-on-one with somebody calling you out of the blue to talk about one product or service.

Did you find the one-on-one meeting format efficient?

It is very helpful, because you focus on one organization for 30 minutes. There aren’t 10 people trying to get your attention at the same time.

What expectations did you have prior to your first Summit?

I had no idea what to expect. I really enjoyed my first Summit, and that is why I went a second time. The one-on-one meetings were very valuable, and so were the topics that were discussed.
