“We have added two companies on our approved supplier list thanks to Marcus Evans . With over 100 divisions globally, this represents a huge opportunity for those companies. Without the Summit it would have been very difficult to find some of the technologies and types of suppliers we were introduced to, to,” said Hikmat Chammas, Chief Engineer, Honeywell Aerospace, a speaker and delegate at the Marcus Evans Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing & R&D Summit.
I made connections with several interesting suppliers and industry peers. Was introduced to new materials, technologies and services. We visited a few of those suppliers and ended up signing an NDA with one company, and in the process of signing with another. As approved suppliers, they will get access to over 150 sites and over 100 divisions. We usually start with a few licenses, and expand to more users. We are already engaging one of the companies in two different divisions. As we are planning to double our company size in the next eight years, you can imagine what a huge opportunity this is for anyone in our system.
No, we didn't know them and it s unlikely that we would have met. I receive 50 50-100 emails a day soliciting business and I don t have time to review them. There are thousands of companies competing for business at different levels and it s difficult to pick one from an email or cold call. Nobody does it. To develop a relationship, you need to meet face face-toto-face. The Summit gave us the opportunity to look into their eyes and get to know them a bit. Many suppliers think it s easy to send an email and schedule a video call, but that is not how it works. First, you need to know the person and build that trust between the two companies, before the actual engagement.
Yes. We get to meet a good range of suppliers and services needed in our industry. Some of the technologies are very innovative and non non-traditional. If I hadn't attended the Summit, I definitely wouldn't have known about the software company that I am engaging with right now.
Yes. I like the fact that the meetings are short, to the point, you get the information you need and move on to the next table. If you need to continue the discussion, you can arrange more time together.
Yes. There was a lot of valuable information being transferred between audience and speakers, as well as between speakers. The discussions gave us a different view on technologies we are dealing with, which are very helpful for the future of the industry and our companies. Exchange of ideas, information and technologies can help our industry grow and improve.
