We gained 2 investors from Marcus Evans connections

“Connections we made at the Summit introduced us to two family offices that ended up investing several million dollars into our fund. We wouldn’t have met them on our own,” said Mike Janke, Co-Founder & Partner, DataTribe, a cybersecurity venture capital firm at the marcus evans Private Wealth Management Summit.

Tell us about your experiences with marcus evans.

The Private Wealth Management Summit brought together GPs and LPs looking to invest in funds. It was the most professionally run event of this caliber in the industry. marcus evans sets up high-quality, very bespoke, targeted one-on-one meetings, between people who have funds and people who want to invest in them.

Many of the connections we made have been very advantageous. Out of around 40 new relationships we formed, eight continue to this day. It takes time even when they are very interested. Although they haven’t invested yet, they introduced us to family offices that did.

That is how the value of the Summit goes beyond the people you meet there. You don’t just meet quality investors in a short time span, but investors who are genuinely interested and looking for funds like yours. Around half of the investors we met had selected to meet us. That was a very high ratio compared to other events, and resulted in more successful conversations. As we nurtured those relationships, they introduced us to their network of family offices. It would have taken us a very long time, if at all, to interact with that many quality investors.

Were these investors on your radar?

No, we didn’t know about them. We wouldn’t have met them without marcus evans. Family offices are very private by nature.

Do you like the one-on-one meeting format?

I find it very efficient and effective because it forces you to hone your pitch and what information investors are looking for. That is very valuable when you are fund raising in rapid-fire meetings. The good thing about the Summit is that you can continue conversations over dinner or drinks. It is this combination that makes marcus evans Summits so successful.

How would you compare the Summit with other industry events?

I speak at many family office events to educate people on cybersecurity. They usually bring together many family offices but only a small percentage are interested in cybersecurity funds, or they have already invested. Compared to that, at the marcus evans Summit people actually select us and we can select family offices, so it is more targeted. That is why the value to us is very high.

What key factors do you look for in an event? Does the Summit achieve them?

We consider whether attendees will be interested in our specific area of venture capital, and the answer with marcus evans is yes. We get the list of attendees, what assets they invest in and what they focus on, so we get introductions to interested investors. We don’t get that at other events.
