We switched to a new digital agency after the Marcus Evans Summit
“Marcus Evans presented us with a curated selection of suppliers from different areas of the
market, which was very useful. We met suppliers we wouldn't otherwise have had the opportunity
to meet, and we have now transitioned to a digital agency we had never crossed paths with” said
Rebekah Murphy, Chief Experience Officer, Hub Australia, a delegate at the Marcus Evans CMO Summit.
Tell us about your experience with Marcus Evans.
The most enjoyable aspect was the opportunity for one-to-one sessions with suppliers, where we
could have deep conversations about our business and challenges. Another highlight was the opportunity to talk to our peers facing similar struggles.

Why wouldn't you have come across those suppliers without Marcus Evans?
There are so many suppliers out there in the market, in every single category. Its impossible to
meet everyone. The chance to get introduced to a small cross cross-section of the market was very
valuable.
At the Summit, we were introduced to a digital agency from Melbourne, where we are also based.
We had a very nice alignment, so we continued the conversation and ended up making the decision
to transition.
The Summit exceeded my expectations. I came away with a long long-term supplier relationship, which
I had not expected. We also had follow follow-up meetings with two other interesting suppliers.
Would you have responded to unsolicited calls or emails from these suppliers?
Probably not. I receive so many unsolicited emails and calls, its difficult to go through them all. I
just don t have time. Having a face-to-face conversation away from our day-to-day work was really beneficial. If I had received an email, most likely I wouldn't have followed up with them in the
same way. I usually go through my contacts to get supplier recommendations.
Is the 30-minute one-on-one meeting format an efficient way to meet new suppliers?
Yes, it was the best part of the event. We are so busy at work. This forces you out of that into a
face-to-face environment where you can have deep conversations with potential suppliers and start
building relationships. You get a real feel for their business and what they re all about.
How would you compare the Summit with other industry events?
This was more exclusive, curated and with more senior decision decision-makers than most industry
conferences or exhibitions. You can get more out of your experience when it s a tighter group of
people who are at a similar level to yours. That was very appealing to me, and it worked very well.
