“There was real value beyond simply attending another conference”
- Patrick Eyberg, Executive Vice President, Operations, Universal Registered Agents, Inc.
Universal Registered Agents, Inc. is a national registered agent and corporate compliance services provider supporting law firms, in-house legal departments, private equity-backed businesses, and multi-entity organizations across all 50 states.
I believe URA was recognized because we combine nationwide capabilities with a highly responsive and personal service model. We take the time to understand how each legal department or law firm operates, and then build a practical solution around its needs. Our clients receive direct access to experienced professionals who communicate clearly, respond quickly, and take ownership of getting the work completed correctly.
URA provides a broad range of registered agent, corporate filing, annual compliance, UCC, document retrieval, and entity management services through a single relationship. We serve as the administrative execution layer for legal departments and law firms without attempting to replace their legal work. Our flexibility allows us to adapt to the client’s workflow instead of requiring the client to conform to ours.
Our greatest advantage is our people and their responsiveness. Technology is important, but clients still need knowledgeable professionals who understand the urgency behind corporate transactions, compliance deadlines, and multistate projects. We provide dedicated contacts, quick turnaround, transparent communication, and the ability to solve issues without sending clients through layers of bureaucracy.

When Patrick Eyberg, Executive Vice President of Operations at Universal Registered Agents, first considered Marcus Evans, he wanted to be sure the investment would deliver value. Although URA’s CEO was already familiar with the Summit format, Patrick carried out his own research, reviewing the event, attendee profiles, and potential return on investment.
The opportunity to meet directly with senior legal decision-makers ultimately convinced the team to participate. Since then, URA has generated new business opportunities and built valuable relationships through the Summit experience.
As a provider of registered agent and corporate compliance services, URA needed an efficient way to engage senior legal professionals and decision-makers within target organizations.
The challenge was not simply increasing visibility, but ensuring conversations were taking place with individuals who understood the problems URA solves and had the influence to evaluate solutions or introduce the company to the right stakeholders.
The Summit format gave URA access to a carefully selected audience of legal executives through a combination of one-to-one meetings and networking opportunities. Unlike traditional conferences, where interactions can be brief and difficult to qualify, the Summit environment enabled URA to sit down directly with senior legal professionals and have focused conversations about business challenges, priorities, and potential solutions.
Preparation also played a key role. Through the information provided before the event and support from the Marcus Evans team, Patrick and his colleagues were able to research participants in advance and tailor each conversation to the individual attendee.
What the approach enabled:
While Patrick never expected every meeting to result in an immediate opportunity, he found the overall quality of conversations to be strong. The Summit connected URA with legal leaders from organizations the company would likely not have reached as quickly through traditional sales and marketing efforts. More importantly, those conversations translated into tangible business results.
URA has already generated new business from its Summit participation, while several additional opportunities remain active and continue to progress through the sales process. For Patrick, the value extended beyond the event itself. The Summit created meaningful introductions, accelerated relationship-building, and opened doors to prospects who understood the value of URA’s services.
More personalized and productive conversations through advance preparation
For Patrick, one of the biggest differentiators is the quality of interaction the Summit model creates. Traditional conferences often revolve around exhibit halls and brief encounters, making it difficult to develop meaningful connections. The Summit, by contrast, provides dedicated time for focused discussions with relevant executives.
The combination of...

Patrick believes Marcus Evans delivered on its commitments, providing the meetings, access, preparation, and level of attendee seniority that URA expected. At the same time, he emphasizes that success ultimately depends on how participants approach the opportunity. The event creates the introductions and conversations, but turning those conversations into business requires preparation before the event and consistent follow-up afterward.
For URA, that effort has paid off. The combination of qualified meetings, strong attendee access, and tangible business outcomes has made the Summit a worthwhile investment and a valuable component of its business development strategy.
URA also utilized MEConnects to review schedules and prepare for meetings before the event. Patrick found the platform helpful for researching attendees and planning conversations, allowing the team to approach each meeting with a clear understanding of the organization and individual they were about to meet.
His advice to other participants is simple: treat every meeting as the beginning of a relationship. Organizations that invest time researching attendees and tailoring their conversations are more likely to achieve meaningful results than those relying on a generic sales presentation.
Our CEO was familiar with Marcus Evans from his previous company and had a good experience. That gave us a level of comfort from the beginning. I still did my own research before we committed, reviewed the event and company online, looked through LinkedIn, researched the types of companies and legal leaders who attend, and used ChatGPT to help compare the investment with other conferences and sponsorship opportunities. We also talked internally about the audience, meeting format and what a reasonable return would look like. The chance to sit down directly with senior legal decision-makers was what ultimately made it worth trying.
The cost was obviously the biggest concern. I wanted to make sure the meetings would actually be with relevant decision-makers. I also wondered whether it would truly feel curated or end up being another large conference with a handful of scheduled meetings added to it.
Not every meeting turned into an immediate opportunity, but I never expected that. Overall, the quality of the conversations was strong, and we met with senior legal professionals from organizations we likely would not have reached as quickly through normal outreach. We have already gained new business from the summit, and several other conversations are still active. So, yes, there was real value beyond simply attending another conference!
The team was responsive and did a fantastic job keeping us informed before and during the summit. We had enough information ahead of time to research the companies and people we would be meeting. That preparation mattered because it allowed us to have a different conversation with each attendee rather than giving everyone the same generic sales pitch.
The matches generally made sense for our business. Registered agent and corporate compliance services are not always something a legal department is actively shopping for on the exact day you meet them, so some of the conversations were naturally more long-term. The important part was that we were meeting with people in the right roles who understood the problems we solve and could either evaluate our services or connect us with the person who could.
Yes. We received the scheduled meetings, preparation, and access to the level of legal professionals we were expecting. The event itself was organized well, and the team was available when we needed anything. The opportunity was delivered. Turning those conversations into business still requires good preparation and consistent follow-up afterward.
The summit created a much better environment for actual conversations than a traditional exhibit-hall conference. MEConnects helped review our schedule and prepare for meetings. The platform could be a little easier to navigate in places, but it gave us the information we needed. My biggest advice to another partner would be to research every attendee before the event and treat each meeting as the beginning of a relationship. Showing up with one generic presentation and expecting immediate sales probably will not produce the same result.
