We invested into a company that Marcus Evans introduced us to
“We’ve established a strategic partnership with a company introduced to us through the Elite Summit. This collaboration includes a significant capital allocation from us as well as from our broader network of aligned investment partners. For single family offices, accessing differentiated co-investment opportunities in competitive sectors can be particularly challenging. We’re continuously seeking to build relationships with high-performing investment groups that offer a clear competitive edge and a tangible value proposition,” said Natasha Drapeau, Partner, Strategic Projects, Equinoxe Investments S.A., a delegate at the Marcus Evans Elite Summit.
What new opportunities has the Elite Summit presented to you?
We engaged with several compelling companies at the Summit that aligned with our strategic priorities, and have since advanced discussions with a number of them. The event served as a valuable platform not only for connecting with peer investors but also for sourcing differentiated investment opportunities. To date, we have completed an investment in one of these opportunities and expect to progress with additional partnerships that are likely to follow a similar trajectory. Each of these relationships introduces distinct capabilities and diversification benefits to our portfolio.
Had you come across these companies or funds before?
No, we were not previously familiar with any of them. The first group had a distinct geographic focus and no presence in Switzerland, so it’s unlikely we would have encountered them through our standard deal flow channels. Timing can be critical in these situations. What ultimately laid the foundation for our partnership was their impressive track record in delivering exceptional shareholder value and the disciplined, transparent way in which they conduct business.
Is it difficult for companies or funds to get on your radar?
We are active participants in the investment community and generally accessible, but many service providers we encounter tend to offer similar propositions or operate in niche areas that may hold limited appeal for a Swiss-based family office like ours. We prioritise partnerships with teams that bring a differentiated perspective — strategic thinkers with a focus on complex, offmarket opportunities. Meeting face-to-face at the Summit enabled us to build a relationship and assess this company beyond its core service offering. It provided the context to consider a broader investment in the organisation itself, rather than just in the funds it manages.
How would you compare Marcus Evans Summits with other industry events?
I find Marcus Evans events to be highly valuable. The panels are thoughtfully curated and expertly moderated, offering consistently insightful and relevant perspectives. It’s an excellent platform for engaging with a diverse community of family businesses, industry leaders, and peers, each bringing a unique viewpoint to the table. The Marcus Evans team is, in my view, its greatest asset. Professional, responsive, and highly competent, they provide exceptional support, not only during the Summit itself, but also throughout the broader engagement. I’ve been consistently impressed with the level of organisation and follow-through.
